2. The proposed roof drainage design is puzzling. The design calls for 8” roof drains (each good for 1,117 GPM), 4” x 5” drain leaders (external drain pipes that are each good for 360 GPM) and no provision for secondary (overflow) drainage. See Sections 1105, 1106, and 1108, IPC 2018 for design guidance. [Initial comment: Clarify the design for the roof drainage. Key notes 06 and 07 call out a 6” x 8” primary scupper and a 6” x 12” overflow scupper respectively but the roof plan (01/A1.102) and the North Elevation (01/A2.101) show primary roof drains and no scuppers. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2018.]
