Electrical Review of Home Depot at Rita Ranch
By: Ron Ross PE
Need to provide interior lighting calculations (lighting Comcheck)
E1.01B ELECTRICAL SITE PLAN: Not in set to review
E1.04 SITE BLOCK HEATER PLAN: Not in set to review
E1.23 POWER PLAN - ROOF: Need to provide power/circuit for 120V receptacles for units with Keyed Note #3 or clarify how RTU provides 120V power for required service receptacle.
E4.21 ENLARGED POWER AND DATA PLANS: Comment only: Detail #2 may be missing a wall for the electrical equipment on east side of break room.
E4.26 TRC ELECTRICAL: Keynotes 12, 14, and 36 don’t seem to point to correct locations.
E4.32 ENLARGED DESK DETAILS: Could not locate Keynote 2.
E4.33 ENLARGED DESK DETAILS: Keynote 9 seems to point to switch.
E4.34 ENLARGED DESK DETAILS: Could not locate Keynote 2.
E6.01 ELECTRICAL SCHEDULES: Need to show compliance with 2018 IECC with an interior lighting Comcheck (hand calculations are acceptable, but prefer Comcheck cover page of report)
E6.02 ONE-LINE DIAGRAM:
Note #8 needs to be clarified. One-line calls out for 150 Hp, it isn’t going to reduce its size and inrush starting currents for a generator. Determine if 125 Hp is acceptable and change on one line or revise generator design to support/start a 150 Hp motor under normal starting conditions.
Primary feeder for 150 Hp fire pump is undersized per NEC 430.6.
Confirm Primary feeder complies with NEC 695.7 (voltage drop to be less than 15% at LRC)
Please explain note #19 “No Ground Conductors”. Pump should be grounded to avoid stray voltage. How ground size is determined is left to EOR. Also, need to require feeder for the fire pump to comply with 695.6(A)2. I would suggest to revise the not to include “to be in 2 hour rated raceway ie typically concrete encased metal conduit or MI cable” along with any other requirements that may apply.
If generator design is a separately derived source, Note 19 should be removed/modified from generator feeder as well.
Generator 225A circuit breaker for 150Hp fire pump looks small ie may trip under inrush currents. Typically, Circuit Breakers are 1.5-2.5 X the size of FLA. Panel schedule on E6.04 has CB at 250 amps, which could also be upsized.
Keynote 17 doesn’t seem to point to correct item. Should probably be next to Keynote 16
