3. GENERAL - MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS, WOOD CONSTRUCTION: The structural general notes currently do not
specify the required grade and species of typical sawn lumber used in the design of wall studs, beams and headers.
Please update the general notes to include this information.
4. SHEET M301 - MECHANICAL LOADS: Mechanical Sheet M301 calls for the addition of four new kitchen hoods
weighing between 218 lb and 1,270 lb. These loads are currently not called out on Structural Roof Plan S2.3. Per the
structural general notes, under "Limitation of Liability", Note 2, "All imposed loads... are not allowed without specific
approval from the structural engineer unless such loads are specifically shown on the structural documents". Please
confirm that the proposed hoods have been accounted for when evaluating the existing roof framing, and include them
on the structural roof plan.
5. SHEET S4.0 - CONFIRM DESIGN: Detail 206 on Sheet S4.0 appears to mislabel the connection between exterior
"buttress" beams and the interior steel column. Please confirm that the typical shear connection is acceptable at this
location or provide a unique connection.
6. SHEET S4.1 - CONFIRM DESIGN: Detail 230 on Sheet S4.1 shows a proposed steel lintel comprised of (2) L3x3x3/8
angles. Angles are attached to the existing brick via 1/2" through bolts. Due to the angle leg, these bolts are installed
at 1 1/2" from the edge of masonry. This poses a risk of masonry breakout. Please confirm the design and revise the
detail to show the LL3x3 lintel to scale.
7. SHEET S4.1 - CONFLICTING INFORMATION: Detail 224 on Sheet S4.1 gives a glulam beam size that conflicts with
the size called out on plan. Please confirm if the required beam depth shall be 18" per the detail or 21" per Structural
Roof Plan S2.3 (Beam Type "B10").
