1. GENERAL - UPDATES: For project updates, please submit sheets with all changes clearly marked in revision clouds. Please provide a written response to each comment; updates without a clear response to all comments may not be
reviewed. If you have any questions regarding the comments, you may contact me directly. Updates may result in additional comments.
2. GENERAL - SPECIAL INSPECTIONS: Please have the Registered Design Professional in Responsible Charge of this project complete and return the City of Tucson Special Inspections Certificate with signatures. The form can be
downloaded at: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/sharedassets/public/city-services/planning developmentservices/documents/special_inspection_certificate.pdf
3. SHEET S-1 - GEOTECHNICAL REPORT: Please provide a copy of the site-specific geotechnical report referenced in the structural general notes. The report should support the appropriateness of the selected foundation system for the
project site. All submitted geotechnical reports must be dated no later than three years from the submittal date. Outdated reports must be accompanied by a letter from a qualified geotechnical engineer stating that the report
requirements are still valid, or stating what items may have changed. All building code references must be updated to the current code adopted by the City.
4. SHEET S-4 - COLUMN SCHEDULE: The Column Schedule on Sheet S-4 does not specify a minimum embedment depth for anchor bolts at structural steel columns. Per the structural general notes, the seismic force resisting system
for the proposed mezzanine is a cantilevered column system. Please confirm that the typical embedment lengths prescribed in Detail 2/S-3 are sufficient to achieve the moment-fixity required for a cantilevered column design. Supporting calculations may be required.
5. SHEETS M-12 & R5.0 - MECHANICAL UNITS: The Mechanical Roof Plan, Sheet M-12, and Mechanical Equipment Plan, R5.0, indicate multiple new mechanical units weighing between 700 lb and 12,000 lb to be added to the existing
roof. The addition of mechanical units weighing over 300 lb requires an evaluation of the existing framing by a professional engineer. Please provide a structural roof framing plan with the proposed units called out. If any reinforcement of the existing framing or proposed openings is required, please provide additional structural details.
