01/09/2025 | Commercial Mechanical | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | 1. The manufacturer’s literature indicates that the nominal energy efficiency range of the proposed condensing unit (Goodman GLXS4B) is 13.8 to 14.5 SEER2, depending upon the evaporator coil used. Split-system air conditioners that do not meet the new M1 Standards published by the Department of Energy cannot be installed after January 1, 2023. The new 2023 Standards for units <45,000 BTUH are 14.3 SEER2 which is equivalent to 15 SEER. Verify that the proposed split system will have a minimum energy efficiency of 14.3 SEER2. 2. The submitted Manual J heating/cooling loads show a sensible cooling load of 22,877 BTUH and an equipment total cooling load of 22,996 BTUH. The expanded cooling data for the proposed split system (105F outdoor air, 80F IDB, 67F IWB and 800 CFM) shows a sensible cooling capacity of only 18,240 BTUH. In addition, the Manual J calculations show a required total capacity of 2.7 tons at 0.70 SHR. The proposed split system is under-sized. 3. Show how mechanical ventilation is being provided.
