Any oversight by the review team shall not be considered an authority to violate, set aside, cancel or alter applicable codes or ordinances. The Structural Engineer is responsible for following ALL applicable Federal, State and local Municipal Codes and Ordinances.

BUILDING REVIEW COMMENTS:
Denied
1. Sheet A0.02: The occupant load calculations provided are incomplete and incorrect. The building code does not base the requirements for occupant load calculations on perspective employees on shift. Several of living spaces have not been included in the calculations. A space by space occupant location is required. Provide an accurate and complete occupant load calculation in accordance with Section 1004.3 and Tale 1004.5.
NOTE: Proposed shift occupants is not a concept established by the IBC in regards of occupant load calculations, as policies and shifts may change over time. The foundation principles of occupant load calculations is founded in maximum simultaneous occupancy of the structure. This is the conservative approach the permits the deviation of policy and shifts. Any deviation from the prescriptive requirements of the building code is required to be approved by the building official. Provide documentation showing that this method of calculating the occupant load in this manner is approved by Juan Garcia, CBO.
1. Sheet A3.01: The doors of the dorms are not rated properly. Provide properly rated doors in accordance with Section 716 and Table 716.1(2).
NOTE: The use of non-separated mix use does not exempt the rating of corridors. Table 1020.1 does permit the derating of the corridor walls to 1/2 hour when protected by a NFPA 13 sprinkler system. Table 716.1(2) indicates that when corridor walls are rated at 1/2 hour the corridor doors are still required to be rated for 20 minutes.

1. Provide smoke dampers at each point a duct penetrates a corridor wall sheet M2.01 (IMC2018,607.5.4) This is a R-2 occupancy and smoke dampers are required at corridor penetrations, the code section that is cited is specific to corridor walls and has nothing to do with the section you are referring to in the IBC 2018,714.4.1 exception 2 for horizontal penetrations of fire rated floors Not Complied
2. Provide 120 cfm of exhaust to each of the toilet/shower room's #135,134,130 &129 sheet M2.01 (IMC2018,403.3.1.1) Complied

Apparatus Bay shall be ventilated at .05 cfm continuously and either operate at all times at .75 cfm per square foot or provide automatic operation with CO and NO2 detectors set at 12 and 3 PPM respectively to operate at .75 per square foot upon activation of detectors sheet M3.01 (IMC2018,404.1) Complied
4. Show how you are bringing make up air when the exhaust fan for the kitchen hood is operating it must be interlocked with make up air at approximately the same air flow which is 1000 cfm's please be clear sheet M6.03 (IMC2018,508.1 A/C 5 is only bringing in 65 cfm of outside air and your saying the rest of make up is coming from the surrounding space is not sufficient the required make up must be interlocked to the KEF at approximately the same rate Not Complied
