Commercial Building Express REVIEW COMPLETED ** The rationale for the appeal appears to be exactly the same as the previous submittal. Please provide a letter with the changes identified. Neither the operable windows nor the high ceilings be equivalent to the required exhaust fan.**
1. The following is my research and recommendation as the Building Official will make the final decision. Since the Art Room is specifically required to provide exhaust at a rate of 0.7 CFM/SQFT because these spaces often generate airborne contaminants like dust, fumes, vapors, and odors from various artistic processes. These contaminants can be harmful to health and create an undesirable indoor environment. Exhaust systems remove these contaminants, ensuring a healthier and more comfortable environment for the occupants. Even those it is stated the instructor would only use non-toxic art materials; a code compliant exhaust system would ensure acceptable indoor air quality in all instances. Based on this information the appeal, as presented, does not appear to meet the intent of the code. Approval is not recommended in this case.
