Provide additional documents as requested by review staff. STRUCTURAL REVIEW COMMENTS: Denied Provide the designed overall weight capacity for the new racking on the drawings. BUILDING REVIEW COMMENTS: Denied 1. Note on the drawings that all work will be in accordance to the codes and ordinances as adopted by the City of Tucson. 2. Note on the drawings the existing exit lighting may need to be modified due to the new racking heights. This will be verified in the field at time of inspection. 3. Provide dimensions on the drawings indicating the clear widths for the main aisles and the length of the “dead end” in the southeast corner of the building. Dead ends shall not exceed 50’ for storage areas. 2018 IBC 1020.4. 4. Indicate a minimum of 12” clearance at the latch side of the door in the northwest corner of the space in accordance with accessibility requirements. 5. Clarify on the drawings the classification of the “props” to be stored on the shelving such as paper, textiles, paints, and other chemicals or other. See 2018 IFC table 3203.8 for examples of commodity classifications. The fire system shall be designed to accommodate the highest hazard. 6. Clarify if the new metal rack shelving will be provided with mesh, grates, or similar uniform openings that are not more than 6 inches apart and not less then 50% of the overall shelf area. if the shelves are not in compliance with the minimum openings and indicated, the shelves will be considered solid. 2018 IFC 3208.2.2 exception 1. 7. Clarify the overall size of the wood racking on the drawings and if the shelves are solid or include openings as indicate in the comment above. Racks with solid shelving greater than 20 sf shall be in accordance with NFPA 13. Additional sprinkler heads and detectors may be required. 8. Indicate a floor plan of the racking storage will be mounted on a wall indicating the layout, height, type of commodities, clearance at the ceiling, aisle dimensions, and the location of valves controlling the water supply of ceiling and in rack sprinklers if applicable. 2018 IFC 3201.3.2.
