Where constructability does not allow a steel joist to be installed at the column the joists are to be stabilized on both sides of the column. 5. Except for steel joists that have been pre-assembled into panels, connections of individual steel joists to steel structures in bays 40 feet or more shall be fabricated to allow for field bolting during erection. 6. Provide a vertical stabilizer plate at columns for steel joist as required by OSHA 1926.757. 7. Verify OSHA steel erection standards for open web steel joists.
