EXPLANATION OF WHY CONFORMANCE WITH THE ABOVE REQUIREMENT PRESENTS AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM: Our permanent standpipe is currently under construction and will be completed in the next 3 1/2 -4 weeks. We feel the precautions and safeguards in place should meet the requirements placed upon us but are willing to do more if deemed necessary. Because the permanent standpipe is currently in process we ask the City please look at precautions in place and judge accordingly. We feel the hardship and expense to install a temporary riser for such a short period of time would be unnecessary. STATE SPECIFICALLY WHAT IS PROPOSED IN LIEU OF LITERAL COMPLIANCE: In lieu of the standpipe we propose the following to safeguard the project until the permanent stand pipe is completed within the next 3 1/2 to 4 weeks. 1. we have placed fire extinguishers next to each trash can on each level. 2. a hot permit must be taken out prior to any welding, cutting, or Hot work on any type. work area must be inspected prior to work commencing. 3. all trash cans are dumped daily in the dumpster at ground level. 4. any and all flammable material is kept at ground level. 5. smoking is forbidden inside the building at anytime. 6. lunch is not to eaten inside building to prevent excess trash in the building. 7. we are working a 24 hour shift Monday through Saturday and have 24 hr security onsite Sundays.
