EXPLANATION OF WHY CONFORMANCE WITH THE ABOVE REQUIREMENT PRESENTS AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM: Our request is based on the need to enhance and improve our "Infant Abduction Prevention Program" at the Pediatric and Mom-Baby Units (100-200 and 300) that are under construction and expansion at this time. TFD has already granted variance on our existing Pediatric and mom-baby units. STATE SPECIFICALLY WHAT IS PROPOSED IN LIEU OF LITERAL COMPLIANCE. TMC proposes to continue using the badge readers and video phone system to control egress for staff and visitors. During an emergency all doors unlock upon activation of our fire system (fire alarm pull stations, smoke detectors and sprinkler systems). DECISION OF THE FIRE CODE OFFICIAL: APPROVED BY CHIEF DAN UTHE FIRE MARSHAL. |
