This is a DES licensed home, behavior health for 8 people. They want a time extension for the sprinkler permit requirement. Per letter to Tucson Fire dated 12/03/09- We request a variance in regards to having sprinklers in our existing shelter facility at this time. The reason for this is that we are planning to demolish the bldg within the next 12 months and put a new shelter bldg up that will include the necessary sprinkler system. It seems a waste of resources to add the sprinklers to the existing structure when our plan is to demolish it and build a new one. if for some unknown or unanticipated reason that we do not build a new structure we will then proceed with adding the required sprinklers. We should know by June 2010 which will actually occur. DECISION OF THE FIRE CODE OFFICIAL: Approved with stipulations: 1. By September 1, 2010 the facility shall have sprinkler system installed, or 2. Reduce the licensed capacity to 6. PER CHIEF DAN UTHE FIRE MARSHAL 01/29/10. |
