| 02/03/2010 | INSP - FULL | RDUARTE | Approved | Petition of Appeal to the Fire Code Official for: We would like to replace the fire systems panel without attaching smoke detectors in every room to panel the way it originally was installed. per letter from Fire Inspector Vincent: They would like to remove the fire alarm system. It consists of manual pull stations and smoke detectors (bedrooms/hallways) that are hardwired and monitored by the fire alarm panel. They have already installed battery back up (non hardwired) smoke detectors in all the bedrooms. The fire code does not require a manual fire alarm system, hard wired smokes or interconnected smokes now that the building is sprinklered. Their appeal should be approved as long as their sprinkler system is monitored by the fire alarm panel and notification appliances (audio and visual) activate upon sprinkler flow. They would also need to remove all nonfunctional non required equipment. DECISION OF THE FIRE CODE OFFICIAL: APPROVED WITH STIPULATIONS: 1. Sprinkler system is monitored by the fire alarm panel. 2. Notification appliances (audio & visual) activate upon sprinkler flow 3. Remove all nonfunctional/non required equipment. Per Chief Dan Uthe Fire Marshal 02/02/2010. |
