11/03/2008 | INSP - FULL | RDUARTE | Approved | petition of appeal to the fire chief: Smoke'm tobacco products store is requesting an appeal to the requirement which disallows the use of sliding surface bolt locks on their east side rear exit door. The door serves a small stock room area and is not accessible to the public. The store has experienced several burglaries where this particular door had been forced open. The owner has installed an alarm system but it has proved to be a deterrent. He feels that the two sliding bolt locks may provide him with enough security. The business owner has stated that he would keep the bolt locks in the open position when the business is occupied, and that he would install a sign at the door stating" This Door to Remain Unlocked When the Building is Occupied". Approved by Chief Dan Uthe. |
