08/08/2008 VIOL - ADMINISTRATION RDUARTE Approved petition of appeal to the Fire Chief on 06/18/07- request permission to retain the remote controlled magnetic lock which is intended to only be used for physical security relating to robberies.

DENIED on 07/11/07. If you want to have a magnetic lock that is controlled remotely to unlock the door, it would have to be connected to a fire alarm system. That upon activation of the fire alarm system the locking device on the door would be released. Additionally, the locking device would have to be interlocked with the electrical system so in the event of a power failure the locking device would be released. This will meet the intent of the regulations, to allow unrestricted exiting in the event of an emergency.
