| 04/10/2025 | Because the location is in a floodplain and certain chicanes are over proposed over existing utilities, the FPUP will be approved with the following conditions: If chicanes are found to be incurring significant maintenance costs to City, by observation and reports via City Engineer's office, that may include collecting debris and by frequent maintenance activities at one chicane, where debris is needed to be removed after frequent rain events, that chicane will be removed and restored with pavement structure. If there is damage to the sanitary line or stormdrain line during a rain event, repairs to utility shall be made immediately and that chicane will be modified and pavement structure restored. If there is damage to the sanitary line or stormdrain line during construction, repairs to utility shall be made immediately If there is evidence of scour over existing stormdrain or sanitary line, chicanes upstream of the damage shall be removed and pavement structure restored. Flexible bollards with reflective features shall be placed as safety measures at upstream corners of chicanes to delineate edges of location of depressed area hazard during storm events where flows cover chicanes and may not be visible to cyclists or vehicles. This project acts as a trial pilot for chicanes in flood prone areas with specific flood depths and velocities and does not set a precedence and may be removed if safety hazards are experienced. |
