RE: measurements needed - brick / mortar
At: 135 S 6th Av / Delta / permit app T21OT00937 / HPZ app T21SA00554

Hello Wendy -

Thank you for taking my call today.

As I mentioned, I met with our Historic Preservation Officer, Jodie Brown, yesterday afternoon to discuss the projecting sign install here.
It's understood you're applying to install the sign on the indented brick area of the brick "framework" above the entry door.

Our Historic Preservation Officer has asked that these items be noted on the side elevation view of your install diagram:
A ) please note the location of the brick frame or "soldier's course" of brick both above and below the mounting arms of the projecting sign
B ) please draw the brick where the sign mounts are - dimensioning the brick (i.e. 6" or 8" tall brick, for example)
C ) please draw / label the mortar between the brick - and dimension the mortar thickness between brick courses (i.e. 1/2" , 1" for example)

She's asking for this information to ensure it is clear to all those reviewing the materials that the sign mount arms can fit within this indented brick portion and only have mounting and electrical line penetrations through that mortar, and that the screw diameter noted will work for this mortar thickness. These plans will serve to further document and protect the integrity of the historic building facade.

Thank you in advance for your time, your work and assistance with obtaining this information.} ; {Activity date: 01/04/2022; Status: Continued; Inspector: Hthrall; Comment: Entered by HTHRALL1 - 0n 1/4, met with Jodie Brown, City Historic Preservation Officer, to review project. Requires additional clarifications on side view of plan. Staff is following up with an email to the contrctor with details needed.} ; {Activity date: 01/04/2022; Status: Continued; Inspector: HThrall; Comment: Entered by HTHRALL1 - Revision of plans received 1/4/22 from the contractor with the HPZ application. Forwarded to historic and TRE divisions for evaluation.(Minor Historic Review in field applies - case T21SA00554.)

Sign is shown to be directly above the doorway, within the indented brick framework - all penetrations only through mortar. (Sign Location appears to be within the existing dining TRE that needs reactivation from the former Janos Downtown Kitchen.)} ; {Activity date: 12/21/2021; Status: Continued; Inspector: Hthrall; Comment: Entered by HTHRALL1 - Projecting sign requires TRE for being in right of way and historic minor review. Application sent to the contractor for the historic review.

Show:
exact position of the sign on the building (i.e. on wall left of the door, or in the indented portion of the brick above the door)
the supports are to be mounted within mortar areas only, please dimension between the mortar & posts should be contained within the recessed brick borders if above the door
provide diameter of the mounting bolts
provide notation that the electrical wiring is to be through the mortar
provide notation that mortar / brick repair to be done upon sign removal
}
