Variance referral made for sign area variance of 160 square feet, to consider new signage install, retaining 48 sq.ft. existing signage if needed, and 105 sqft courtyard sign does not count toward total sign area. The following review comments are in reference to the plans to be used for this case and potential resulting permit reviews, and note further review comments may be forthcoming depending upon responses provided and additional reviewers requirements. 1) Page 2: main freestanding sign with Electronic Message Center: a) Drawing appears to show 1/2 of the sign is fluorescent and 1/2 is an LED full color Electronic Message Center (EMC), with unlit cross accent piece. Drawing details were very small, and when enlarged, were not clear. Please note that some of the comments may have been addressed, but were not legible on the plans. b) It is not clear whether this is one cabinet or two stacked units, and how it might be altogether assembled. (i.e. is there one frame with two stacked cabinets? Is there one frame with 3 cabinets, with fluorescent on top and two back to back LED cabinets on bottom?) And how are crosses mounted? c) provide LED cabinetry data: amps, volts circuits, brain/mirror unit assembly type, etc. Chapter 3-18.B.5. d) Note LED sign dims to 200 NITS from sunrise to sunset. Per OLC 501.5. e) Note method of dimming for LED Unit. (i.e. photo cell?) f) Note means of curfew being met per 403.5 OLC - timer, and provide notation if timer serves all or if two separate timers provided (one for LED and one for fluorescent). g) make notation that top of sign shall not exceed 10' from top of street curb. h) please dimension side view at base and at cabinet frame i) please note referral to BA rounded the sign area up to 45 sqft. 2) Page 3 - 105 sqft wall sign on interior of complex on east wall of the large building at the central part of the church: a) please enlarge the electrical and mounting diagrams and indicate which apply to which part of the sign (looks like a halo reverse pan channel and a pan channel design are both presented). b) please note this is a "courtyard sign" and not visible from public right of way. 3) Please enlarge electrical diagrams throughout packet. |
