09/21/2016 | SIGN SITE REVIEW | HTHRALL | Approved | REVIEW 0F 2ND SET OF PLANS SUBMITTED REVIEWER: H.THRALL 09/21/2016 SIGN CODE REVIEW PERMIT T16OT01094 Site: Women's Center (east side) at TMC, 5301 E Grant Road 1) Sheet 1 of the 2nd submittal shows a sign on top of the ultimate roofline of the Womens' Center building at TMC (appears flat roof/parapet system on squared tower area of building). Such a sign location is a prohibited type of sign per 3-53.G of the Sign Code, a "roof sign". 2) Sheet 2 of the submittal differs in installation information than sheet 1. Sheet 2 shows the sign to be mounted on what appears to be the top of a canopy type designed area of a building rather than on the principal portion of the building. (Show correct mounting if not applicable to a canopy.) 3) Upon examination of approved building plan elevations (T15CM04368), it appears the sign is meant to be located upon an entry canopy at the east elevation. For building height/sign location clarification, this entry canopy is 25' tall from grade, whereas the ultimate building elevation height is 30' (as would be the height of the building shown on sheet 1 for sign location, if dimensioned). *** NOTE - if the signage is meant for location upon a canopy, it appears from preliminary analysis that variances to sections 3-59 (Canopy Signs) of the Sign Code will apply*** 4) Revise, per 3-18, 3-59, NEC 600 & OLC: A) sheet 1 to depict where the sign is proposed to be installed if upon a canopy B) add the height from the grade to the top of the canopy where the sign is to be mounted C) add the height from the grade to top of sign where to be mounted D) dimension distance from building wall behind canopy sign to the back of the canopy sign E) add height from top of sign to top of wall behind canopy and angle from top of sign to top of wall behind canopy F) label any cover over pan channel letters or specify open-face G) label shut off switch location H) label timer (I) note circuit location for inspections (J) specify if field weld (requires special inspection per IBC) 5) Please note, further review comments may be forthcoming, depending upon the review responses provided. Resubmittal of the plans may be directly to the reviewer via emailed pdf - Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov |
