The Fire alarm control panel of the previously approved installed fire alarm system has been removed and this alarm system is no longer functional. The maximum occupant load for this 'E' occupancy is 53, thus requiring a manual fire alarm system as stated in the above referenced code. You shall have a qualified alarm installation company replace any removed equipment and repair your alarm system to operate per the approved plans on file (Central Alarm, 5/26/98) and per the fire alarm code referenced on those plans, NFPA 72 -1996 edition. A permit shall be obtained and plans shall be submitted to the Tucson Fire Department for plan review for approval prior to any work beginning. TFC 1008.1.9.4 Bolt locks. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. Extension cords shall be used only with portable appliances. 1) You shall remove the extension cord in office. TFC 304.1 Waste accumulation prohibited. Combustible waste material creating a fire hazard shall not be allowed to accumulate in buildings or structures or upon premises. 1) You shall remove large accumulation of paper waste and storage in office and storage areas. TFC 1030.2 Reliability. Required exit accesses, exits and exit discharges shall be continuously maintained free from obstructions or impediments to full instant use in the case of fire or other emergency when the building area served by the means of egress is occupied. An exit or exit passageway shall not be used for any purpose that interferes with a means of egress. 1) The North exit from the 1 & 2 year old room was blocked. You shall maintain ALL EXITS FREE OF OBSTRUCTIONS at all times. TFC 906.6 Unobstructed and unobscured. Portable fire extinguishers shall not be obstructed or obscured from view. In rooms or areas in which visual obstruction cannot be completely avoided, means shall be provided to indicate the locations of extinguishers. 1) You shall maintain your extinguishers free from obstructions. TFC 906.9.1 Extinguishers weighing 40 pounds or less. Portable fire extinguishers having a gross weight not exceeding 40 pounds (18 kg) shall be installed so that their tops are not more than 5 feet (1524 mm) above the floor. 1) You shall ensure all extinguishers are not mounted too high above the floor. TFC 906.2 General requirements. Portable fire extinguishers shall be selected, installed and maintained in accordance with this section and NFPA 10. 1) Your fire extinguishers shall be serviced annually and tagged as such. TFC 907.8.5 Maintenance, inspection and testing. The building owner shall be responsible to maintain the fire and life safety systems in an operable condition at all times. Service personnel shall meet the qualification requirements of NFPA 72 for maintaining, inspecting and testing such systems. A written record shall be maintained and shall be made available to the fire code official. 1) Your smoke alarms are not working. You shall test them annually and replace batteries when needed. |
