12/04/2012 SIGN SITE REVIEW HThrall Approved REVIEW OF PROPOSED SIGN PERMIT T12OT01597 by H Thrall 12/3/12
I can be reached at 520-837-4951 or at Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov
NOTE, CONTRACTOR HAS BEEN EMAILED A COPY OF THIS REVIEW AND OF THE RED-LINED SUBMITTED SIGN PERMIT PACKAGE FOR CORRECTIONS.

For: Dunkin' Donuts, 2553 N Campbell Ave.

1) The sign permit package cannot be approved until the Development Plan Package DP12-0172 and building permit T12CM05046 have been approved and the building permit has been issued. As a courtesy to the sign contractor, the sign permit package, though submitted early in the development phase of this project, has been reviewed.

2) Per 3-18 of the Sign Code - Site plan:

A) As sign area calculations are derived off street frontage (Per 3-76) submit a copy of the proposed development plan site plan sheet for review (which will show the lot line dimensions). Staff located a copy of the development plan package under review within our office to confirm the proposed sign area is in compliance with the Sign Code allowances.

B) use the site plan from the proposed development package and ID location of each sign to correspond to the permit application (i.e. Sign A, B, C).

3) Per 3-18 of the Sign Code: Regarding permit application:

A) Revise to list the frontage along both Silver St & Campbell.
B) Add pole sign square footage, height, setback, copy & note it's a change of copy.
C) Revise menu board info to match construction drawing dimensions.

4) Per 3-18 of the Sign Code: Regarding construction drawings:
A) Label each sign on the drawings to correspond with application (i.e. Sign A, B, C)
B) Provide overall square footage and dimensions for each sign.
C) Provide electrical diagrams for each sign, as applicable, inclusive of lighting type, amps, volts, circuits and shut off switches.
D) Provide construction diagrams for each sign (and sign extensions on the menu board), side view, with construction materials used to make the sign, and mounting details (size, number of, type of screws/bolts and type of wall sign is mounted to.
E) Provide footer details for all new self-supporting signs. Note width/depth, supports type of footer, any pole covers, and concrete encasements. Note who is responsible for installation of the footer ( will it be sign contractor or general contractor). NOTE - AN EXCAVATION INSPECTION IS REQUIRED ON ALL FOOTERS FOR ALL SELF-SUPPORTING SIGNS. IF THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR PUTS THE FOOTERS IN, THERE IS A CHARGE OF $82.50 FOR FOOTER INSPECTION UNDER THE BUILDING PLANS, OTHERWISE THE SIGN CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FOOTER EXCAVATION UNDER THE SIGN PERMIT.

5) Per 3-18 of the Sign Code - provide specifications on both the drawings and the sign permit application for the change of copy being done to the nonconforming pole sign. Specify any other desired work to be done to the pole sign, note that further review comments may be forthcoming, as no alterations but reasonable repairs and change of copy can be done to a nonconforming pole sign.

6) Per 3-18 of the Sign Code - sign area calculations need to be adjusted on both the drawings and the permit application for the menu board and the "Sintra Cup Logo" sign. Contractor has been emailed a set of marked drawings to assist them with this.

7) Per 3-62 of the Sign Code - menu boards cannot exceed 7' in height. Revise.

8) Staff has records of two existing traffic directionals at this address - are they being removed or re-used. If re-used, include information on the plans.

9) Per 3-18, all signs should be identified on the application. On the development plan package, it appears a clearance bar is to be installed over the drive thru lane? Provide specifications for the new clearance bar, even if no signage is on it, support footers and electrical details would need to be reviewed under this permit. Note, only incidental signage is allowed on a clearance bar, max sign area at 2 feet, with restricted message to verbage such as "Clearance 8' Max" - no logos or reference to the business is allowed.

10) Please note that further review comments may be forthcoming once the resubmittal has been reviewed, as structural/electrical division needs the information requested in this review to begin their review.
