09/17/2025 TRSP - PIA - Paving Inspection Re-inspection required The overall execution of the laying of the asphaltic concrete went well; however there is a section of approximately 135 feet between the first and second pass (or ribbons from a total of 3) on the south side of Elvado closest to the intersection with Geronimo where the seam is in really bad shape. The area will be evaluated according to the specifications and measured with a ten foot straight edge to evaluate its integrity. By sight test, it does not look like it will pass and will be on the contractor to come up with a repair. The total tonnage for this work was 408.

The area will be evaluated according to the specifications and measured with a ten foot straight edge to evaluate its integrity. By sight test, it does not look like it will pass and will be on the contractor to come up with a repair. The total tonnage for this work was 408. After inspection with the 10 foot straight edge, it has been determined the area between station 8+00 and the edge before the transverse grate is out of specification. The gap between the straight edge and pavement is up to 1/2". An email with instructions and recommendations have been sent to Colby Fryer and Jud as documentation. Also, the seam along that stretch also needs to be rectified and an area at the SW corner of the intersection of Geronimo and Elvado needs to be saw cut, removed and repaved due to numerous surface voids.
09/22/2025 TRSP - PIA - Paving Inspection Passed Random locations have been chosen to core samples and complete a Rice Asphalt test at the lab. The two station locations are 1+67 R 3 feet and 6+39 R 29 feet. An email request has been sent to the City of Tucson materials lab for the work to be done as soon as possible due to multiple issues already found in the asphalt due to workmanship.
