Re-inspection required |
12-17-24, customer requires a revision for clips/sheathing. Plans call for 2x6 studs at 24" o/c . Customer used 2x4's in many areas and 2x6 in other locations. Sill plates used are not manufactured, rather customer pressure treated sill plates himself out in the field. Also, anchor bolts are required within 12 inches of an opening. Sill plates must be manufactured; roof, together with clips/sheathing inspections will be required upon approval of any revisions. |

12-27-24, the owner of the property is doing the construction himself, and as noted previously, owner did not purchase manufactured sill plates. Rather he treated plates using a material called "patching." I was not able to determine whether both sides of sill plates had been properly treated. I explained that he would be constructing at own risk. Another item discovered during inspection was that the 2x8 rafters on the gable roof had been trimmed to 2x6's at the edges of the west section of the roof. According to owner, this was done for proper water run off. All straps, anchor bolts, and nailing on exterior clips/sheathing and roof was verified as per approved plans. Okay to continue construction but at owner's own risk. |
