10/12/2022 COT - ENGR - Signage Final hthrall1 Continued Entered by HTHRALL1 - RE: wall sign review For: Forage Hair AT: 5303 E Speedway Sign permit: T22OT00749 Sign reviewer: H. Thrall Date: 10/12/22 Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC) Sign Standards 7A, National Electrical Code 600, Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), and International Building Code (IBC) 2018 1. UDC comments: a. The sign view at the top of the plans says "Forage" is the sign, however, the middle view shows "Forage Hair Co". Please ensure the full sign is listed in the top view and provide full sign area dimensions in decimal feet for the entire sign. b. on the permit application, the valuation of the sign appears high - as this is a wall sign under 10 square feet. please check this valuation to ensure the value is for the install and the sign's value. Thank you. Adjust on the permit application if needed. c. Please note on the elevation view bottom left "no existing sign" 2: Electrical comments: a. The sign components all must be UL (or equivalent) rated, note on plan. b. It is understood the sign is not entirely built as one unit and shipped in, nor built in a UL rated (or equivalent rated) sign shop. That is allowed. To proceed, the entire sign should be taken to a sign company and reviewed for UL rating compliance, and their manufacturing and UL sticker would be added to the sign. Note on the plan which sign company you're working with for this UL review / rating. Thank you. (There are many to choose from in Tucson.) c. list manufacturer of the power supply and note their UL status d. list manufacturer of the LED lights and note their UL status e. list the location of the breaker panel in the tenant space f. list the location of the timer inside the tenants space g. add a note that the dedicated sign circuit will be labeled h. add note that sign will shut off at midnight 3. IBC construction comments: a. clarify how power supply is mounted to the wall (i.e. note the size of screws / bolts and number used) b. clarify how the letter is mounted to the wall (i.e. note the list size of the screws / bolts and number used per letter) c. clarify how the LEDs are mounted to surface of the sign letter (i.e. note if silicone, etc.) To assist you, staff is providing a copy of your plan with all of the above notes listed on it. Once you have corrections done, please email your plans to Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov

09/01/2022 COT - ENGR - Signage Final hthrall1 Continued Entered by HTHRALL1 - 09/1/22 submittal: Please revise the following.... 1 ) We need to know how many AMPs of electricity the sign is pulling. It's probably one (1) circuit of 120 volts but how many AMPs of electricity are the LEDs pulling when the sign is lit? The manufacture of the sign will need to tell you. It is determined by the brightness of the LEDs and number of LEDs used. 2 ) When the business is a tenant space in a shopping center, The measurement for determining the square footage of signage allowed, is not the street frontage of the shopping center, it is the width of the tenant space see the attached PDF
