03/14/2023 | COT - ENFC - Code Enforcement - Follow Up | In Violation | 1030 AM - Defendant was present, City asked to hold a hearing due to the violation not being in compliance. Defendant spoke in great length to dispute the need for repairs. He told the judge that he feels it should not be replaced as a white sidewalk would look out of place due to historic status of the neighborhood. He believes the grinding job he did was sufficient and states that if anyone falls down on the sidewalk they should not be walking, and states he has enough insurance coverage that he is not worried if someone falls on the sidewalk. The City asserts the sidewalk in its current state is hazardous and dangerous to pedestrians, especially at night due to this street not having streetlights. A hearing was not held. Judge orders a continuance for a hearing, and for the TDOT inspector to be present. -VM | |
