| 03/29/2022 | INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT | Approved | VISITED SITE, MET WITH TFD INVESTIGATORS WHO GAVE ME A VERY BRIEF EXPLINATION, STATING FIRE WAS STARTED BY LITHIUM BATTERIES ON A STOOL IN THE REAR BEDROOM. STATED MANAGER WAS IN THE PROCESS OF FINDING A UNIT FOR THE OCCUPANT WHO IS AT WORK BUT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. TFD THEN EXITED THE SCENE. I MET WITH MAINTANENCE WHO FIRST ENTERED THE UNIT AND STATED IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO LEE INSIDE THE STRUCTURE BECAUSE OF THE SMOKE BUT CHECKED TO SEE IF ANYONE WAS INSIDE AS THE OCCUPANT HAS FOUR KIDS. FIRE STARTED IN THE REAR S/W BEDROOM, ALL WALLS , CEILING AND CLOSET AREA WERE HEAVILY SMOKE DAMAGED. FIRE STARTED IN THE S/E CORNER OF THE ROOM WHERE I FOUND THE BATTERIESAND ONE 2 FT X 2FT HOLE IN THE CEILING WHERE TFD WAS LOOKING TO SEE IF FIRE ENTERED THE TRUSS AREA, FIRE DID NOT GET UP INTO THE CEILING OR TRUSS AREA, FIRE WAS MOSTLY A CONTENT FIRE, CLOTHES BEDS, DRESSER AND CHAIR WERE BURNED IN THE FIRE LEAVING THE ROOM HEAVILY SMOKE DAMAGED. THE BEDROOM DOOR WAS CLOSED PER THE MAINTANENCE PERSON AND FIRE WAS ISOLATED TO THE BEDROOM. I CHECKED THE ADJOINING BEDROOM AND BATHROOM BUT FOUND NO SMOKE OR WATER DAMAGE, SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER DAMAGE TO THE CARPET IN THE HALLWAY BUT THE REST OF THE UNIT WAS IN GOOD CONDITION. I ASKED MAINTANENCE IF WE COULD WALK THE UNIT BELOW, AND WE DID, THERE WAS NO SMOKE OR WATER DAMAGE, I STATED THAT THEY MAY WANT TO OPEN WINDOWS. I THEN MET WITH THE MANAGER WHO HAD ALREADY CONTACTED THE OWNER AND INFORMED HER THEY HAD ONLY A ONE BEDROOM AT THIS TIME BUT WOULD TRY COMING UP WITH A 2 BEDROOM IN THE MEAN TIME, OCCUPANT WAS GIVEN UNIT #605 AND IT IS MOVE IN READY. OWNER ALSO CONTACTED THE WINDOW COMPANY TO REPLACE THE BROKEN GLASS WINDW IN THE BEDROOM. THEY WOULD START CLEAN UP AFTER OCCUPANT HAS MOVED ITEMS FROM THE UNIT. FRONT DOOR WAS KEPT LOCKED TO THE FIRE DAMAGED UNIT. BOARD WAS NOT REQUIRED. TFD HAD TEP BOOT THE METER AND C/E TURNED OFF ALL BREAKERS TO THE SUB PANEL INSIDE THE UNIT. S/W GAS CHECKED FOR GAS INSIDE THE UNIT AND COMPLETED A LINE TEST, FOUND NO ISSUES. NOV WAS ISSUED FOR A EMERGENCY VACATE AND INCLUDED PERMITS REQUIRED FOR ALL NECESSARY REPAIRS AND ELECTRICAL RECONNECT. NOV WAS SIGNED FOR BY THE MANAGER. COMPLIANCE / CLOSE CASE. |
