09/13/2021 COT - ENGR - Signage Final HThrall Continued Entered by HTHRALL1 - RE: pole sign review For: McDonald's AT: 4555 S Campbell Av Sign permit: T21OT00501 Reviewer: H. Thrall Date: 09/13/21 2nd review Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC) 7A Sign Standards, National Electrical Code (NEC) 600, Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code 2018 (IBC) Sign Design Review Committee process completed via design professional, MSP-21-07 / T21SA00259. Approved, no conditions. 1) Add property line street frontages to the plan(or darken them if applicable). Per UDC 7A.10.2.c.2 - C-2 zoning allows a pole sign for the proposed location, providing sufficient linear frontage is provided along the affected street(s). Staff acknowledges maps show Campbell Av and Benson Hy each have greater than the minimum 225' linear street frontage needed for a pole sign. A pole sign placed at the apex of the site will count toward both street fronts for the allowed number of pole signs and towards allowed number of freestanding signs for each street frontage. 2) List setback from each street curb, minimum is 30' from face of curb to leading edge of the sign (UDC 7A.10.2.c.2, pole sign criteria). Acknowledged that the sign exceeds that minimum setback from both street fronts, but the data is only provided from property lines. The setback data will be needed also from the street curbs for inspection purposes. 3) NEC / OLC: A) Remove conflicting note about 5000k white LED's, as plans also note 4400k max color temp, as required per OLC B) List the correct light source with color temperature. C) List the location of the power source to the sign, with dedicated circuit and labeled breaker panel for inspections. D) List note "power to be provided by others via separate electrical / building permit". E) Sign to shut off at business closure or midnight curfew, later of the two - provide note that timer shall be provided to ensure curfew requirements met. 4) IBC: A) Engineering received, and is under review, however - provide: B) An attachment detail needs to be provided between cabinet and architectural embellishment / base components. C) Provide labels for base component materials D) If any special inspections are required, have engineer fill out this form as to both the type of special inspection and the qualified special inspector, and return for staff review: Form: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/pdsd/forms/Special_inspection_certificate.pdf List of qualified special inspectors (by their name or by expertise, found under Town of Oro Valley for all of Pima County area: https://www.orovalleyaz.gov/Government/Departments/Community-and-Economic-Development/Special-Inspections Updated plans can be emailed directly to Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov
