03/19/2021 COT - ENGR - Signage Final Hthrall Continued Entered by HTHRALL1 - RE: sign review For: monument change copy and new pole sign AT: 4030 E 22nd St / Carmax Sign permit: T21OT00203 Reviewer: H. Thrall Date: 3/19/21 Codes: Unified Development Code 7A sign standards, National Electrical Code (NEC 600), Tucson Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC) 2018. 1) Note - overall project request meets code for the monument change of copy and the new pole sign. The adjacent parcel to the west is a part of this overall premise, thus the Carmax and Church's chicken can maintain location on the existing monument sign, as desired at the sign area negotiated between parties, not to exceed more than 50 square feet use of the entire monument sign ofr total sign area display. Further - the overall premise has enough lot line frontage along 22nd St for two freestanding signs, and for the new sign to be a pole sign category. 2) On the application, please revise sign A to be a DP category for double-faced pole sign. 3) Include an aerial photo that shows the entire premise 22nd Street frontage with the Church's chicken lot at 3970 E 22nd included - this confirms for the permit record the overall premise has enough street frontae for 2 freestanding signs and one at a pole sign category (approx 518' feet along 22nd per our mapping system). 3) See plan emailed for assistance shows SVTs. Acknowledged new sign is out of SVT, include this DP sheet with the plan resubmittal and mark location of sign A on it for the record. (30' setback meets code). 4) Elevation view of sign: sheets 3 of packet - A) change description please to "double faced pol sign" B) acknowledged the sign is within the sign area allowance, but add the sign area of the cabinet on the plan please (to match app) 5. NEC / OLC: A) provide note on elevation view timer will shut sign off by 12 p.m. curfew. B) for inspections, please note location of timer and dedicated sign circuit and that a lock out may be required (i.e. in mechanical room of building?) 6) Thank you for detailed engineering for the sign. A) special inspection needed for the field welds have engineer fill out this form: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/pdsd/forms/Special_inspection_certificate.pdf 7) On the site plan provided - be careful to not have the sign within the water easement shown... Please return revised plan set to Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov
