Thrall Date: 3/26/21 Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC) Sign Standards 7A, National Electrical Code (NEC), Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC 2018) **Understood the request is a Singular Sign Design Option (SSDO)** and comments with asterisks are to refer the project forward for the proper forms to be filled out and applications filed with staff for Sign Design Committee Review (SDRC). Please double check that the application meets 7A.7.1. E design criteria and 7A.7.1.G findings. (see note 2 below). Note that the sign is in a parking lot landscape island. 1) **UDC.7A.10.2.C.2.a.1. - pole signs require minimum 30' setback from street curb to leading edge of sign. Application is providing 20' setback. SDRC required.** 2) **UDC 7A.7.1. findings require that only 8 items of information - which equivalates to 8 panels - are on a sign undergoing this process for an SSDO. Please request in the application that the sign also be allowed the additional 9th item of information to identify the site (Safeway Plaza / logo).** 3) UDC 7A.10.2.C.2.a.1 - pole sign maximum sign area is 72 square feet. The sign area provided on the application exceeds that, but is not measured on the diagrams as the sum of each raised panel and then boxed site identifier / logo. Please check / revise / update, or SDRC is required to exceed 72 sqft. Total sign area on the sign. (Addresses do not count toward sign area.) 4) Acknowledged the sign will be less than 12' tall to top of letters, however, no dimension is provided from top of street curb to the top of the raised lettering of the site identifier on the structure. 5) On overview map on sheet 3, point out existing center sign on Golf Links, and the existing Jack in the box sign and the existing panda express sign. (the convenience store lot is not part of this premise) point out the existing sign that is being removed from the Wilmot side. 6) On the overview map on sheet 3, call out the entire premise lot line frontage (linear feet) on Golf Links and on Wilmot (all parcels but the convenience store parcel). 7) National Electrical Code/ Outdoor Lighting Code: a) Provide notation that maximum color temperature of the lighting will not exceed 4400k b) Provide notation that a timer will be provided to ensure curfew of midnight is achieved, and list timer location. c) Increase font to 12 point in the LED diagram… can't read it… 8) Provide basic construction information: a) Ensure the surface color and embellishments are labeled with material type to match the existing sign on Golf Links (as part of the SDRC process) b) Provide notation that "engineered plans and calculations to be provided for footer and pipe support, at Risk Category II" Please send revised plans to Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov with the SDRC applications for items 1 & 2.

03/09/2021 COT - ENGR - Signage Final Hthrall Continued Entered by HTHRALL1 - Emailed applicant and contractor on March 9th to provide volts/amps/circuits/shut off switch/4400k maximum internal color temp noted, basic construction detail (engineering can be later), connection details to pole, photos of existing signs and will require all dimensions in decimal feet rather than inches. Will require SDRC review for reduced setback of 20' for a pole sign, rather than 30' setback from street curb.
