Thrall Date: 03/04/21 Status: approved - provide follow up items, please Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC) 7A Sign Standards, National Electrical Code (NEC) 600, Tucson Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC) and International Building Code. 1. Presubmittal of this project was done with Josh from AGI in November 2020. It is understood one monument sign is being removed and replaced with an access point sign; one nonconforming pole sign is being replaced with a conforming monument sign, and new wall signs are proposed. This proposal reduces the number of freestanding monument / pole signs at the site to within code allowance (5). The following review comments are for the permit record as required documentation to proceed with the request as proposed. 2. Sign Standards UDC 7A, On the site plan: A) (Partially addressed - add dimensions to SVT's - 20 stem from curb on sheet 23.) Provide Sight Visibility Triangle at each entry point - 20' from curb to leading edge of sign structure. (Send back updated sheet 23, please.) 3) Sign F and G are now shown on the plan for change of copy with welds noted. Thrall Date: 2/22/21 Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC) 7A Sign Standards, National Electrical Code (NEC) 600, Tucson Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC) and International Building Code. 1. The following review comments are for the permit record as required documentation to proceed with the request as proposed. 2. Sign Standards UDC 7A, On the site plan: A) The entire dealership is a premise. As such, adjust the linear street frontage along Wilmot to 950 feet - on all sheets where noted and on site plan. B) ID each freestanding sign on the site plan - include the Ford signs as well - anything freestanding (not a traffic directional). There are 6 on Wilmot. C) ID on the site plan that "sign B consists of removal of a monument sign with replacement of an access point sign" D) ID on the site plan that "Sign A consists of removal of a nonconforming pole sign with replacement of a conforming monument sign" E) Note on the site plan at total of 5 freestanding category signs will be on Wilmot frontage F) On the site plan, show the setback for sign B - as an access point sign, it can be as close as 10' from street curb, if on private property. G) Provide Sight Visibility Triangle at each entry point - 20' from curb to leading edge of sign structure. H) On the site plan, show the setback for sign A - minimum is 20' from the street curb. 3) Call out the sign area of sign A on the elevation view using the black face that can be changed out. Max is 50 square feet of actual sign aera. Raised lettering cabinet face can be dimensioned separate from remaining cabinet. (Leave the note about the structure's square footage, as engineering is not needed for the overall structure size noted at 63.5 square feet.) 4) Adjust the note for sign height of Sign A to match the diagram for top of cabinet. 5) Dimension side view of Sign A, ID any raised lettering. 6) Construction notes - clarify how sign A is mounted to existing footers (i.e. bolting / size / etc.) and note existing footer to be used. (Original sign was much bigger, no concern using same footer system, just provide the bolting sufficient to do so.) 7) Add note - no on site welding to sign A. 8) Wall signs - provide attachment notes for each sign - bolts / screws / number / size 9) National Electrical Code / Outdoor Lighting Code: A) on elevation view for Sign A, call out shut off switch location. B) on elevation view for Sign A, note location of dedicated circuit and timer for sign C) on elevation view for Sign A, specify timer provides shut off at midnight curfew D) on elevation view of Sign B, fluorescent bulbs and ballasts are mentioned, yet the sign also has a note on the color elevation that LED bulbs are used. Clarify. E) LED for ALL WALL SIGNS EXCEEDS 4400K color temp in the side diagrams - revise each diagram for white LEDs to match notes of max 4400K color temp (OLC) 10) enlarge all print on the plans to minimum of 12 point and ensure clear - some notes pixel when enlarged for legibility.
