02/19/2021 | COT - ENGR - Signage Final | HTHRALL | Continued | Entered by HTHRALL1 - RE: freeway sign review For: 1995 E Ajo Way / Eegee's etc. Sign permit: T21OT00090 Date: 2/19/21 reviewer: H. Thrall MSP 20-02 / T21SA00048 - SDRC case **Per prior review with contractor, an SDRC review required for second freeway sign at a premise in I-1 zone (UDC 7A.10.2.c.2.) ** Please clarify the following to continue forward with SDRC: UDC: 1.) Per Section 7A.6.5.B. freeway sign height is taken from the outside edge of the freeway travel lane. The plans show an elevation view of the I-10 off ramp system for measuring the height instea. Please adjust to show for height purposes that I-10 freeway travel lane is used to measure max 48' height. Travel lane is below the Kino overpass. Please show on the plan set the elevation at that I-10 travel lane going west bound and compare to the elevation at the base of the sign. Provide elevation at roadway adjacent to sign for a control point - such as near a light post. Note - freeway sign height cannot exceed 48' above the I-10 travel lane to be a part of the 7A.7.1. SDRC review process, thus clarification needed on the plans. (Applications will need updates to clarify where height is taken from, versus where the 250' proximity to the freeway right of way is taken from. These are two separate aspects.) 7A.6.7. - provide 20' setback measurement from all adjacent roadways to the leading edge of the sign cabinet. 2. UDC 7A.10.2.4.b. freeway sign should be within 250' of the I-10 right of way (i.e. not the actual road, but the land that is the ADOT right of way). The map provided shows the I-10 off ramp as part of the ADOT system for I-10 freeway. Take the measurement of the sign to the edge of the ADOT right of way adjacent to the off ramp. 3. Electrical / Outdoor Lighting Code: A) Provide note the maximum color temperature is 4400k B) show shut off switch (lock out at base of sign?) C) list volts, amps, circuits D) Provide note - separate electrical permit required to run power for the sign. E) add to timer note that - shut off time shall be curfew time / 12 a.m. 4) IBC - A) Should the SDRC process result in any approvals for the request, the project will be reviewed further for construction details, including engineered plans and all connection data. 5) Sheet 6 - revise note to read sign is within 250' of I=10 on ramp (there's a note about 400' distance?) UDC 7A.10.2.C.2.c.2) 6) On SDRC applications, provide photos of buildings to show design compatibility with sign structure and poles and materials. 7A.7.1.G - master sign program findings.
