1) Height: Projecting Sign is shown at 23' from ground to top of sign, with upper parapet 27' or more from grade. Per UDC 7A.11.2.D.6.c - projecting sign cannot exceed - the more restrictive of - either 20' off ground or 2' below the parapet. Sign Design Review Committee (SDRC) eval required for this code variation, (after Historic review).

3) FYI - process / SDRC application was emailed to contractor for height request for projecting sign. SDRC being done during CoVID-19 via design professional in lieu of SDRC quorum, per UDC 2.2.12.I. Director issues notice of decision after review of design professional recommendation. (Note, SDRC takes place after historic review.) Fees are $192.50 for SDRC review. Timeline is approximately 10 working days from plan review to Notice of Decision.

5) Sign is in right of way, Temporary Revocable Easement required after Historic and SDRC process Note, prior sign had a TRE - appears similar location on aerial footprint. You may want to inquire with Real Estate staff later in the process, and review case file 2013-037 for legal description and map. A more detailed map showing the location of the property line / building and the amount of extension into right of way may be online.

1) Clarify if existing Chicago Store projecting sign has been removed. Please note, as a condition of T14SA00007 variance case and historic minor review T12SA00189, once that Chicago Store projecting sign is removed - the historic JC Penney Ohio Valley tile is to be reinstalled where the mounts were. Historic review inspection required for wall repair, and committee review required for new sign proposal.

2) Height: Projecting Sign is shown at 23' from ground to top of sign, with upper parapet 27' or more from grade. 3) After review comments 5 -6 are addressed and updated plans submitted, staff can provide a referral to historic review for the proposal.

Historic review required for all planned signs, wall and projecting. Historic review is being done online now, public meeting still. Tucson-Pima County Historic Commission plans review subcommittee meeting is required. An application for this meeting can be found here:

A) Number of building penetrations for each letter for both the wall signs to be examined. Be prepared, please, to explain method of penetration, how install would affect façade - and how building can be restored back to condition with sign removal. (Note - noticed the historic tile does not extend to this area of the building, but the building cornices and corbels make sign placement strategic.)

5) NEC 600 / OLC -
A) Clarify the color temp as 4400 K (missing the K)
B) Call out color of internal LED lighting
C) Clarify in your note that the LEDs are fully contained within the sign cabinet
D) Call out the faces of the sign are solid plex
E) Provide a night view for historic - show whether the Logo / lettering is the only lit area, or if blue also casts a light at night (black out behind blue?)
F) If power supply new, add note "power to be provided by others via separate electrical permit"

6) IBC
A) Call out no on-site welding (or engineered plans and special inspection).
B) Call out type of metal support for sign
C) Clarify color of metal support for sign- one diagram shows black, the other, white (historic will ask)
D) Show location of all four bolts in the "front view" of the sign mount (distance between)
E) Call out full length of the thru bolts and ID nut / etc. to seal/hold in place
F) Either dimension distance of metal support from wall
