06/15/2020 COT - ENGR - Signage Final Hthrall Continued Entered by HTHRALL1 - RE: monument sign relocation For: roadway widening alterations to site At: 2525 E Broadway / Deconcini building Sign Permit: T20OT00416 Reviewer: H. Thrall Date: 6/15/2020 Please address the following comments prior to submittal for Sign Design Option review for reduced setback: 1) Note property line frontage on right of way plan (old site plan frontage is incorrect). At approx 298' feet, one freestanding sign is allowed along Broadway Boulevard. 2) Note on plan that the only existing freestanding sign is to be removed. Note "no remaining freestanding signs on Broadway". (Sign counts toward Broadway side, clearly on east side of bisection of Tucson/Boulevard curbs.) 3) **The proposed monument sign is less than 20' setback. UDC 7A.10.2.C. It is understood the request is to proceed with setback reduction under Sign Design Review Committee option process. Staff will provide applications for this process.** 4) Add note on elevation plan - "footer will be per ASA enginering calculations attached". 5) Specify the type of texture to be on the sign, and specify to match what is on the building (close up pic of building surface- likely stucco). The texture (and noted colors), along wth shape of the sign is per the Sign Design Review process. 6) Height - per UDC 7A.6.5 - note on elevation plan height from average grade at base of sign to top of actual sign cabinetry (where message displayed). Note "maximum height 10' to top of cabinet". 7. Provide on elevation view an explanation of how cabinet is mounted to the support pole (i.e. give diagram of saddle/bolts - with size/number/type at top/bottom). No field welds permitted without special inspection. 8. Outdoor Lighting Code / National Electric Code 600: A) Provide note on elevation view that "maximum color temperature is 4400k for internally illuminated sign" B) Provide number of volts C) specify how power to sign provided (if by others, note "power by others via separate electrical permit") D) show shut off switch location E) identify location of dedicated circuit (if within building, specify where - for inspection) F) saw timer note, identify where timer is for inspections G) specify type of lighting used (i.e. assume LED) 9) Note - sign is shown located in the city's TDOT temporary construction easement or "TCE". Staff will find out when this easement is "active" for construction and when work may be allowed within the TCE (presuming, of course, the setback reduction request is approved and resulting permit is issued). Send revisions to Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov
