Codes: Sign Standards / Article 7A of the Unified Development Code, National Electrical Code (NEC 600),Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), and International Building Code (IBC 2018).





1) The site is zoned “PAD-29”. Per UDC 7A.11.4, the underlying zoning of the PAD is commercial based and will be reviewed for the appropriate sign area ratioof 3 to 1 within this shopping center development.


A) Sign area and types of signs are within code.





2)Menu boards and interior access point signs do not count toward total allowed sign area, as they are meant for on site users. The signsrequire electrical review and to remain on the permit application.





3) Building accent lighting shown on plan set – pages 12-14 - requires a separate electrical permit/outdoor lighting code review. Please apply on our website for the applicable electrical permit review process and submit documents for review. The accent lighting was not reviewed for this permit.





4) Addressingdoes not count toward sign area, and can be removed from permit application.





5) Keep building dimensions as shown. Dimension the frontage on the site plansheets 6 and 15 as follows:


A) Along Irvington – from drive thru lane to the edge of the building


B) Along Landing Center Dr – length of drive thru





6) Regarding Electrical (NEC 600)


A) Identify where in dedicated circuit breaker panel is for signage (for inspections) - note on plan


B) List total number of circuits on first sheet of plan





7) Regarding Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC)Chapters 4 & 5:


A) No sign presented is a digital message center. Only such signs are requiredto have the lighting limited to 200 Nits. Please remove such notes and keep the signs to 4400K color temperature.


B) Add clarification to timer notesthroughout plan – timer to operate to curfewof midnight.


C) Access point signs – color temperature is shown at 6500K LEDs – reduce to 4400k.


D) Menu board - color temperature is shown at 5000k LEDs – reduce to 4400K.





8) Unified Development code – 7.4.6. - from sign to face of drive thru curbs - maintain 1’ setback for drive thru menu board and access point signs.This is to ensure larger/taller vehicles do not impact signs. This WILL BE INSPECTED at site inspection – appears signs do not swivel, thus be aware now spacng





9)IBC 2018:


A) FYI – no footer inspections required due to size of signs under 80 squarefeet surface area. Concrete may be poured as conctractorschedules. Be aware of the drive thru setback.





10) Provide letter of permission from property management for signage requested. (PAD requirement, permit requirement).
