Thrall Date: 1/16/2020 Codes: International Building Code 2018 (IBC), Sign Standards (UDC 7A), National Electric Code (NEC), Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC) 1) Appears information is provided on lettering at bottom right of each page, unable to read. Enlarge on separate sheet for any mounting and or electrical data, or remove if not applicable. 2) Mounting clarifications, please: A) appears diagram page 2 of plan set shows 1.5 "sq.tube" continues from back and top of power supply to behind letters. Label square tube if along back/top of power supply/raceway if accurate description. B) welds mentioned - identify whether field or shop welds - field welds require engineered plans and special inspections, per IBC 2018. C) identify material of square tubing (assumed a metal) D) identify letter material and how letters mounted to square tubing E) dimension vertical clearance of lettering above building canopy surface F) label building canopy in each diagram (where signs mounted) G) label metal parapet wall (vertical surface behind lettering) in each diagram so as to ensure these signs remain canopy signs, not roof signs 3) NEC 600 / Electric A) identify location of shut off switch for each sign B) identify circuit breaker location and provide panel lock out as needed for inspections 4) Outdoor Lighting Code (Ch 4 & 5) A) understood from prior conversation with manufacturer that "faux neon" is completely opaque, colored tubing where no light source is directly visible. State as such, if accurate, on plans (otherwise these are not considered internally illuminated signs, per 501.3, and requires different review altogether with color temperatures, lumens per luminaire, and site lumen count - unless letters covered.) Revised plans can be emailed to Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov |
