10/16/2020 | INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT | Approved | VISITED SITE, MET WITH CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATORS AND THEN WITH TFD. FIRE HAD HAPPENED MUCH EALIER IN THE DAY PER TFD. FIRE START IN UNIT #237, MY WALK THRU OF THE UNIT SHOWED ALL DRYWALL AND ELECTRICAL OUTLETS AND WIRING STUDS AND CEILING DRYWALL AND INCLUDING ALL CONTENTS WERE A TOTAL LOSS. TFD CONFIRMED MY JUDGEMENT AND STATED THAT FIRE STARTED IN THE UNIT AND THEN THERE WAS A EXPLOSION. TFD CONTACTED CRIME SCENE WHO IN TURN CONTACTED BOMB SQUAD AND TPD WAS ALSO INVOLVED. RED CROSS HAD COMPLETED THEIR ASSESMENT OF OCCUPANTS AND HAD JUST LEFT THE SCENE WHEN CODE ENFORCEMENT HAD ARRIVED. I WALKED UNIT #237 AND QUICKLY FOUND THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT IN THE UNIT BUT WATER AND ASH, WINDOWS HAD BEEN BLOWN OUT, DRYWALL AND STUDS FIRE DAMAGED. TRUSSES SEEMED TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION, VERY LITTLE FIRE DAMAGE APPEARED TO BE MORE SMOKE DAMAGE. TRUSSES RAN THE LENGTH OF THE COMPLEX BUILDING AND DID OVERHANG THE FRONT WALKWAY. TFD REMOVED ALOT OF THE DRYWALL ON THE OVERHANGS LEAVING THE WALKWAY MESSY BUT MAINTNENCE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CLEANING UP THE WALKWAYS. POWER WAS OFF TO THE COMPLEX AND ALL TENANTS HAD BEEN EVACUATED. IN THIS BUILDING. TFD HAD ALSO CHASED THE FIRE DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE COMPLEX REMOVING CEILING DRYWALL IN JUST ABOUT EVERY UNIT OF THE TOP FLOOR. BY THE TIME I STARTED CHECKING UNITS, ALL OCCUPANT WERE EITHER STAYING WITH FAMILY, STAYING WITH FRIENDS OR HAD BEEN PLACED WITH THE RED CROSS, OR APTS HAD TWO AVAILABLE UNITS. |
