03/14/2020 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT Approved CONTACTED TFD CAPTAIN WHO STATED THERE WAS A MAIN SEWER BACK UP, WITH 6 TO 8 UNIT AFFECTED AND MANY OF THE UNITS HAD INFANTS AND CHILDREN TO TEENAGERS. WALKED ENTIRE BUILDING 7 TO DETERMINE WHO HAD THE SEWER BACK UP THERE WEE A TOTAL OF 16 TWO STORY UNITS. FOUND THAT SEVEN UNITS DID HAVE THEIR SEWER BACK UP AND ALL BACK UPS WERE COMING FROM THE KITCHEN SINK OVERFLOWING ONTO THE KITCHEN AND LIVINGROOM FLOOR. THE TOILETS ON THE SECOND FLOOR WERE NOT BACKING UP. FIVE OF THE UNITS MADE ATTEMPTS TO CLEAN THE DIRTY WATER FROM THE FLOOR, 2 HAD NOT DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF WATER COMING UP THRU THE SINK, AT LEAST 1" OF WATER.
MANAGER JALLISA COULD NOT BE REACHED, ASSISTANT MANAGER ANNETTE WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER SHE HAD A NIECE THAT PASSED AWAY EALIER IN THE DAY AND WAS PRESENTLY WITH FAMILY. ANNETTE CONTACTED MAINTANENCE TO MEET WITH ME ON SITE. IT TOOK MAINTENECE 1 HR TO ARRIVE ON SITE. I EXPLAINED I NEEDED A PLUMBING CONTRACTOR TO COME OUT AND A WATER REMEDIATION COMPANY TO COME OUT AND RETRACT THE WATER AND SANITIZE THE UNITS.
I CONTACTED THE TFD CAPTAINED WHO CALLED IN THE COMPLAINT ASKED IF HE COULD HELP WITH RED CROSS AS 35 PEOPLE HAD BEEN AFFECTED AND THE CAPTAIN WAS VERY AWARE OF WHAT WAS GOING ON AND RED CROSS DID GET IN TOUCH WITH CODE ENFORCEMENT.
REWALKED THE UNIT AND DETERMINED HOW MANY PEOPLE PER UNIT, ADULTS ,CHILDREN, AND PETS. RED CROSS ARRIVED AND A LIST OF THE UNITS, AND HOW MANY PEOPLE PER UNIT WAS GIVEN TO RED CROSS TEAMS.
>SEWER WAS SNAKED AND BLOCKAGE REMOVED. I CHECKED ALL SEVEN UNITS AND AND ALL SINKS WERE DRAINING. I DO BELIEVE THERE IS A LARGER PROBLEM.
>J & C WATER EXTRACTION ALSO ARRIVED AND STARTED WITH THE TWO WORST UNITS, EXTRACTING WASTER AND SANITIZING THE UNITS. UNITS WERE ALL TILE NO CARPET. TWO UNITS HAD BEEN COMPLETED WHEN I LEFT THE SCENCE. J & C STATED ALL 7 UNITS WOULD BE CLEANED BEFORE THEY LEAVE. RED CROSS STATED THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE REST. NOV WAS NOT REQUIRED AS SEWER WAS CLEANED AND SEWER WATER RETRACTED AND UNITS SANITIZED, MANAGEMENT WAS IN COMPLIANCE.
