Good evening,

I was notified late this afternoon that Cushing Street would be closed between Main Ave. and Meyer Ave. tomorrow morning from 5 a.m. to noon. Ryan Companies is working on a project at the TCC and they are in the process of locating utilities. I met with the project manager and senior superintendent on site to discuss options such as leaving a lane open and using flaggers to direct traffic or scheduling night work. They are working in the center of the road and don't feel they could provide a safe buffer for their workers if they use the flagger option. Also, the Flin Project (Broadway and Church) is doing night work during June and their concrete trucks are using Cushing as an exit route.

After discussing the options, they will continue their work for one more day as approved by their traffic control plan and pre-construction meeting. This will impact Sun Tran routes 7 and 12 and Fire trucks. The detour streets are Main Avenue, Simpson Street and Meyer Avenue. I have advised them that any future closures will require a 5 day notice, coordination with Transit, Fire and use of message boards.

I apologize for the late notice. Please notify me immediately if you notice any safety issues regarding this closure.

Thank you,
Gloria Salmeron

As you know, there is a lot of work going on downtown that requires some special attention since it is such a high visibility area. Since there is so much work going on, permits often overlap one another and cause added confusion and chaos. With that being said. I would like for everyone to email both Gloria Salmeron and Michael Graham every time a new permit is going to start in the downtown area. Obviously the permit staff is aware of the permits because they process and approve them, but often times they are not aware of exactly when they are going to start so by us notifying Gloria, this will help close that gap. In addition, emailing Michael Graham will give him the notice that he needs so he can get the word out to the public. So just we are clear, after you have your pre-con with the contractor, please email Gloria and Michael and reference the permit number and let them know when they will start downtown.

I know that Mike Bravin and Dan Robertson currently work in the downtown area, but I wanted to include everyone to ensure we are all on the same page.
