| 09/19/2019 | SIGN SITE REVIEW | Continued | RE: sign permit review For: request to alter 18.5 sq.ft. area of a nonconforming pole sign by retrofitting cabinet with a digital message center (fuel price display) AT: Circle K Site - 6750 S Craycroft Rd Permit: T19OT00897 1) The proposal shows a request to retrofit an 18.5 square foot cabinet space on a nonconforming pole sign with a digital message center. A) Per 7A.9.1.c. Except for reasonable repairs and alterations, no nonconforming sign shall be moved, altered, removed and reinstalled, or replaced, unless it is brought into compliance with the requirements of the sign standards. The updating of electrical components for a non-conforming sign may be considered an approved alteration. The alteration cannot change the sign copy from static sign copy to digital sign copy. B) The sign is nonconforming for at least height, and lack of pole cover, and may be nonconforming for further elements. The sign was constructed in Pima County jurisdiction and annexed into the city in November of 2017. C) The request, as presented, is a Singular Sign Design Option (SSDO) via the Sign Design Review Committee (SDRC). The request is: to allow a nonconforming sign to remain as constructed and be altered by retrofitting 18.5 square feet of sign cabinetry with a digital message center. D) Ensure the property ownership and the business ownership sign documents to proceed with the SSDO request. Note- the Circle K business is located on the same overall lot as the Triple T Truck Stop. Parcel ID: 14039041C Owner: TUCSON TRUCK TERMINAL INC Owner Address: 5451 E BENSON HWY TUCSON, AZ 85756-9601 2) Examine/update the street frontage for Circle K, as their use area consists of the parking lot width at approximately 100' along Craycroft. 3) Provide heights to the tops of both sign cabinets. 4) For the SSDO process, please provide better photos of the sign in relationship to the building and with other freestanding signs in the vicinity. Please present location information regarding why the sign is not in a landscape area (appears could be co-located on a light within the fueling area), whether you're also seeking a variance to not have a pole cover with base, as the SSDO process indicates, or will provide one. 5) Staff will provide applications and the review fee for the SDRC process is $192.50. 6) Please send updated plans to Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov |
