07/19/2019 | SIGN SITE REVIEW | Continued | RE: signage review For: attached and detached sginage AT: new Culver's, 1955 W Valencia Permit: T19OT00659 Reviewr: H. Thrall Date: 7/19/19 1) All signage is within sign area allowance, types of sign are allowed. The following review comments are to be addressed for maintaining a proper permit record and conducting accurate inspections. 2) Freestanding sign: A) on site plan, dimension setbacks from both streets (Valencia and Headley) B) Double check dimensions on color elevation plan - show the sign is 50 SQFT or less in size (measure outside edges of each cabinet in a rectangular fasion) OUTDOOR LIGHTING CODE: C) Note top cabinet light brightness is 4400K max to meet Outdoor Lighting Code. (see note on plan, just indicate only for top cabinet) D) Noted that bottom cabinet is a digital message center. E) Note that the digital sign shall dim from sunset to sunrise to a maximum light brightness of 200 NITS. F) Note how the sign shall dim (laser sensor, photocell, etc.) G) Provide timer for shut off time for curfew of 1 hour after business closes (Outdoor Lighting Code). Provide for BOTH cabinets. H) Note type of digital Unit and indicate that such unit meets FCC requirements to not interfere with wireless communications. (Watchfire to provide letter on the above) I) Acknowledge letter from Watchfire that sign shall not animate and shall not change message more than 1 x per minute, add same note to the actual elevation view of the plan. ELECTRICAL - note where control panel is for sign, and specify where power is running from/how - separate electrical permit may be required. STRUCTURAL - noted engineering provided, will be double checked once sign area final size determined/listed. No issues at this review 3) Wall signs - A) enlarge mounting details - came out too small to read on plan B) diagram for wall signs appears to differ from description of flush mount channel letters - please clarify if these are cabinets - or if lettering is channel with an area of the sign open to the wall behind it then surrounded by an oval embellishment that is also a channel feature. (Use color renderings to demonstrate.) 4) Please indicate which footers the general contractor is planning to pour for all signs. Any signs that require engineering need a footer inspection or a letter from GC poured to specs on engineered plans. 5) Culver's usually has two menu boards, including a smaller "pre-menu" board - not seen in package. Double check for review, please. |
