06/21/2019 COT - ENGR - Signage Final Hthrall Approved Entered by HTHRALL1 - Resubmittal received. TDOT docs included. Ok for contractor to use the temporary consruction easement (TCE) per Greg Orsini with TDOT, but the sign structure cannot be in that area. See plans.
05/31/2019 COT - ENGR - Signage Final HThrall Partial Approval Entered by HTHRALL1 - RE: low profile freestanding sign review For: 2955 E Broadway Blvd / GLHN Architects & Engineers Permit: T19OT00470 Reviewer: H. Thrall Date: 5/31/19 1) Acknowledged location (2939 & 2955) are a premise, which qualifies for a freestanding sign. Understood existing freestanding sign being relocated due to roadway widening work, and to be made into a low profile freestanding sign design. Understood driveways at far east and far west are to remain after roadway widening, with central drive to close (adjacent to new location of sign). Understood from TDOT Engineer, Greg Orsini, use of Temporary Construction Easement (TCE) can be allowed for contractor installation activities of the sign, but not for any structure to remain within. Sign will be installed on 2939 lot, outside of TCE and on private property. 2) Regarding electric: A) As sign is being relocated, provide notation where power is coming from for new location of sign, and location of panel & dedicated circuit for inspections. B) All other electrical notes ok. 3) Outdoor lighting code notes ok. 4) Regarding construction: A) Provide notation as to material of 2' continuous base (i.e. metal?) B) Provide diagram as to likely plate and bolt size and location(s) on cabinets to connect to support post. C) Provide clarification as to how cabinet and base connect and connections to post for base. D) Note - no engineering needed unless field weld or hight strength bolts involved. 5) Please provide clear copy of the survey document for overall site, it came through blurred. 6) Acknowledged new sign location, height & setback ok on plans. A) As grade may be uncertain until roadway widening project underway, make note on elevation plan "max height is 6'9" for a low profile freestanding sign with 13.5' setback from face of curb to leading edge of sign cabinet". (Grade can be taken from top of curb if sign is at or below curb elevation. If above curb elevation, grade is taken att he point of the average of each of the 4 sides of the sign - measured 5' away from each of those 4 sides of the sign.) Please note - TDOT advises work crews will be in area beginning in August 2019. Please send plan revisions to Heather.Thrall@Tucsonaz.gov
