1) provide ASA size pipe sheet to confirm 8" diameter pipe correct
2) provide sheet clarifying masonry column embellishment is not attached, but directly adjacent (1/2" away) to sign cabinet structure. Note - if attached, this column affects footer size for wind load calculations, and an increase to the spread footer depth to 2'6" by 6' by 12' would apply). Masonry column to be dimensioned and notation that it is to be built by separate party and with own footer support, note on plans.

3) Appears spread footer from ASA engineering at 2' by 6' by 12' is suffice if above addressed, per R. McCoy and E. Newcomb. Pipe size clarification still applies.

4) Regardless of status of master sign program, structural review fees now apply.} ; {Activity date: 04/08/2019; Status: Continued; Inspector: Hthrall; Comment: Entered by HTHRALL1 - RE: freestanding and access point sign review

Understood intended submittal for master sign program. Comments noted with double asterisks ** require variations from the Sign Standards via the master sign program process. **Referral to master sign program process issued within the above notations**. Materials received for Sign Design Review Committee (SDRC) process.

1) Due to sign sizes, revise application to list signs B-I as monument signs. (DF for any double faced).

2) Clarification only for the master sign program review : "Ring Road" serves as a driveway, signs not visible and or intended to be legible from a right of way (street) are "interior site signs". The signs reviewed for compliance with Sign Standards are sign types A and B in the proposal. Keep the other signs as labeled on the maps and application for compliance review with all city codes.

3) Sign A:
a) **At 113 square feet (boxed 13 x 9 cabinet, excluding base), exceeds the sign area of a pole sign per UDC 7A.10.2.C.2.a (max 72 square feet)**
b) **At 15' tall, exceeds the height of a pole sign per UDC 7A.10.2.C.2.a (max height 12 feet) **
c) **Setback at 23' from Campbell is less than the 30' required for a pole sign** (UDC 7A.10.2.c.2.a.)
d) **Setback at 24' from Elm Street is less than the 30' required for a pole sign** (UDC 7A.10.2.c.2.a)
e) (Unaddressed, can be provided at any permit issuance) On electrical sheet 2, clarify the sign will be U.L. listed (I'm aware Fluoresco is UL qualified, I just did not see it on this sheet, thank you) NEC 600
f) (Unaddressed, can be clarified at any permit issuance) On the electrical sheet 2, clarify for inspections where power is coming from - and where the panel is for inspections. (NEC 600)

4) Signs B & D (B-1 type) -
a) **SETBACK for sign B is listed at 18" from face of curb of the Elm Street. The minimum setback for a monument sign is 20' from a street.** (UDC 7A.10.2.c.2.a)

5) Sign type B - sign G on application:
b) (Unaddressed, can be clarified at any permit issuance.) List where the power is coming from to the sign, and where the panel is for inspections (NEC 600)
} ; {Activity date: 04/04/2019; Status: Correction Required; Inspector: Hthrall; Comment: Entered by HTHRALL1 - UPDATE: hospital driveway is oversized for an access lane, per approved development plan DP15-0185. Thus, a PDMR process for having less than 2' setback from face of curb off driveways for these signs, is not applicable. As the roadway is oversized, engineering concurs the 18" sign setback from face of curb will be safe enough for large vehicles to pass by with some room to spare without damaging the sign (or the vehicle, or equipment mounted to the vehicle).

Plans just resubmitted for review for the master sign program.} ; {Activity date: 03/15/2019; Status: Correction Required; Inspector: Hthrall; Comment: Entered by HTHRALL1 - RE: freestanding and access point sign review

Understood intended submittal for master sign program. Comments noted with double asterisks ** require variations from the Sign Standards via the master sign program process.
1) Due to sign sizes, revise application to list signs B-I as monument signs. (DF for any double faced).
2) On drawings, list corresponding signs on the application for each" sign type A, B, B-1, C" for clarity.
3) On overall site plan and on site plan for signs A & B, label Elm Street off Campbell. The Ring Road, per the PAD-28 document, is south and west of Elm Street, and functions as a driveway or access lane through the site, not as a principal street, such as one surrounding the site. (For sign purposes, this clarifies minimum sign setbacks for the Master Sign Program.)
4) As "Ring Road" serves as a driveway, signs not visible and or intended to be legible from a right of way (street) are "interior site signs". The signs reviewed for compliance with Sign Standards are signs listed as signs A and B. Keep the other signs as labeled on the maps and application for compliance review with all city codes, such as outdoor lighting code, electrical, and a minimum of 2' setback from a driveway curb per the Unified Development Code (UDC).
5) Add street frontage to the overall site plan, along Campbell, and along Elm Street. For the Campbell length, use the building length within the PAD zone, as that is private property versus state land.
6) Provide an overall zoning map to show the boundaries of the PAD zone/subject work area, as it's private and not state land. (Use city map link here: https://maps2.tucsonaz.gov/Html5Viewer/?viewer=maptucson

7) Sign A:
A) List total sign area on the 1st diagram sheet (acknowledged dimensions, thank you)
b) **At 113 square feet (boxed 13 x 9 cabinet, excluding base), exceeds the sign area of a pole sign per UDC 7A.10.2.C.2.a (max 72 square feet)**
c) **At 15' tall, exceeds the height of a pole sign per UDC 7A.10.2.C.2.a (max height 12 feet) **
d) **Setback at 23' from Campbell is less than the 30' required for a pole sign** (UDC 7A.10.2.c.2.a.)
e) **Setback at 24' from Elm Street is less than the 30' required for a pole sign** (UDC 7A.10.2.c.2.a)
f) On the electrical sheet 2, provide notation that the "sign interior lighting color temperature shall not exceed 4400K". (Outdoor Lighting Code Chapter 5.)
g) On the electrical sheet 2, clarify that the sign will be U.L. listed (I'm aware Fluoresco is UL qualified, I just did not see it on this sheet, thank you) NEC 600
h) On the electrical sheet 2, clarify for inspections where power is coming from - and where the panel is for the inspection process. (NEC 600
i) After the Master Sign Program process, should the MSP request be approved, please note that engineered plans will be required for this sign structure construction and footer support and would be reviewed at that time, thus the diagram provided may change to match those engineered plans.

8) Signs B & D (B-1 type) - 1st two comments below, then just sign B for next two comments.
a) List the 4400k color temperature maximum on the plans for Outdoor Lighting Code compliance.
b) List where power is coming from to the sign, and where the panel is for inspections (NEC 600)
c) **SETBACK for sign B is
