12/05/2019 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT Approved VISITED SITE, MET WITH TFD WHO INFORMED ME THAT A FIRE STARTED IN UNIT #201 AND WOULD BE GOING CRIME SCENE. THE FIRE SPRINKLERS IN THE UNIT DID GO OFF AND THE WATER AFFECTED THE HALLWAY IN THE 2ND FLOOR AND BEGAN MOVING THRU THE WALLS AND DOWN TO THE 1ST FLOOR. TFD TURNED OFF THE WATER SUPPRESSION SYSTEM
MANAGER HAD EVACUATED THE ENTIRE 1 THRU 5 FLOORS OF THE COMPLEX. UPON MY ARRIVAL THE WATER EXTRACTION COMPANY HAD BEEN CONTACTED, A & R FIRE PROTECTION HAD BEEN CONTACTED, AND S/W GAS HAD BEEN CONTACTED AND ON SITE. S/W GAS INFORMED ME WHAT UNITS HE NEEDED TO GET INTO TO CHECK THE GAS AND STATED HE HAD ALREADY RAN A LINE TEST AND CHECKED OUT OK. WE OPENED THE THE 3 UNITS ABOVE AND BELOW ON THE 1ST AND 3RD FLOORS AND EITHER SIDE OF UNIT 201 AND FOUND NO ISSUES.
TFD AND CODE ENFORCEMENT CHECKED THE ENTIRE 2ND FLOOR AND THEN MOVED DOWN TO THE 1ST FLOOR. MANAGEMENT COULD NOT PROVIDE KEYS FOR ALL UNITS BUT DRILLED OUT THE DEADBOLTS SO THAT THE UNITS COULD BE ACCESSED.TPD HAD THE 2ND FLOOR TAPED OFF SO WATER EXTRACTION BEGAN WORKING ON THE 1ST FLOOR. C/E PROVIDED A LIST OF WATER DAMAGE IN EACH UNIT. WATER MOVED DOWN MAINLY IN THE HALLWAY AND THEN SEEPED FROM THE HALLWAY WALLS INTO THE BATHROOM, KITCHEN, AND ENTRY HALL THAT ABUTTED THE MAIN HALLWAY. CLEAN UP MOVED QUICKLY.
CHECKED 3RD, 4TH AND 5TH FLOORS AND ALLOWED OCCUPANTS BACK IN TO THOSE FLOORS, AND TFD SET UP A FIRE WATCH WITH THE MANAGER AND MAINTANENCE PERSONEL.
A & R FIRE PROTECTION ARRIVED LATER TO REPLACE THE WATER SPRINKLER HEADS IN UNIT 200, AND 201 BUT HAD TO WAIT UNTIL CRIME SCENE WAS COMPLTED.
FIELD NOV WAS ISSUED TO THE MANAGER RO KEEP UNIT 201 VACANT AND TO MAKE ALL NECESSARY REPAIRS. THEY WERE ASKED TO RESTORE THE WATER SUPPRESION SYSTEM AND TO ALLOW ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 24 HRS TO DRY OUT, ONLY THE ELEVATOR WAS NOT WORKING. NOV SIGNED FOR BY ASSISTANT MANAGER YOLANDA.
THE FIRE IN UNIT 201 TURNED OUT TO BE A CONTENTS FIRE BUT STARTED IN 3 DIFFERENT PLACES WITHIN THE UNIT. UNIT RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE, OCCUPANT COULD NOT BE FOUND. OCCUPANT IN 200 WAS TO BE PLACED IN ANOTHER UNIT BUT WAS AT WORK AT THE TIME.
