11/08/2018 | COT - ENGR - Signage Final | hthrall | Partial Approval | Entered by HTHRALL1 - RE: sign permit review Permit: T18OT01126 Site: 3016 E Broadway (2 wall signs) Reviewers: H. Thrall & D. Santa Cruz (OLC / Elec) 1) Contractor was called 11/6 and informed of following. She took pictures on 11/7 of existing signs - all have clear faces. 2) OLC / NEC: A) Open neon requires lumen count for site. B) Lumenaires within 2 feet of eachother count as one, and cannot exceed 3000 lumens. Provide calcs for neon sign, as each continuous tube of neon is a lamp/lumenaire. C) Color temperature cannot exceed 3500K for open neon lamps. Provide calcs. D) Clear cover over the pan channel letters resolves the above, making it an internally illuminated sign instead of a lamp - but cannot exceed 4400k color temperature. Alter design or provide A-C. E) NEC 600 - provide notation on where designated branch circuit is for sign, and panel box, how power connection - label location of circuit on panel for inspections. 3) Sign standards - provide linear street frontage on both Manchester and Broadway - on plan and on permit application. Sign area appears in accordance with underlying commercial 3 to 1 ratio of street frontage under PAD-19 zone. 4) HL-15-02 - this is a historic landmark site. Provide minimal penetrations on all signage - indicate number of penetrations on raceway for neon sign and on halo lit pan sign. Historic review required for this Joesler building site. Application sent to contractor via email. 5) provide corrections to Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov prior to scheduling historic review meeting. |
