Thrall Acknowledged overall proposal meets Sign Standards - to permit, the following corrections to the plans are needed: 1) Revision received is no longer to replace entire sign with a pole sign, or modify the monument to a pole sign with reduction in setback for pole sign requirements. Revision now reviewed is for the modification of existing monument support structure to add embellishment (surface area) and modify fluorescent manual reader board at monument size, kept in place, using same structural support and cabinet frame to: A) change existing cabinet electrical from fluorescent to LED for top panel area B) add two digital copy cabinets C) add surface area embellishment (sheet 1) along pole cover (already exceeds 60 sq.ft. surface area.) 2) Appears older engineering calcs for proposed pole sign design were resubmitted, based on engineer's diagram with 12' tall sign at 5.8' width. The current sign cabinet design is not consistent with engineer's diagram, it is 5.125 x 9.75 - with length not centered over the pole cover, as engineer's drawing references. A) clarify if additional pole cover surface area embellishment will be added, if so provide updated engineer's drawing B) clarify if LED Digital cabinets are: inserted in existing cabinet to mount interior to cabinet frame and Digital cabinet to be flush mount to existing faces, OR mounted exterior to frame, with weight of each (WATCHFIRE notes 652 lbs - is that for each or both units) and sufficient engineering for such scenarios C) Dimension sizes and depths of the Digital cabinets at 3 x 8 per the WATCHFIRE Specs. 3) Provide copy of original sign permit for structural support pipe verification was 5" diameter, with a 6' x 2.5' footer. If not available, prepare to open cabinet at electrical inspection for inspector to verify 5" diameter pipe. 4) Provide dimensioned side view of proposal showing whether LED Digital cabinets will be inserted into the existing cabinet, or mounted to exterior of the existing cabinet (not clear in diagrams provided). A). Provide dimension (depth) of original sign cabinet for reference. B). Provide mounting notations with sizes of bolts/and number, etc. for new LED Digital Cabinets to the existing cabinet system. 5) NOTE - Site inspection verified grade for sign height will be taken from pole support base of sign, no slope issues. 6) Electrical: NEC 600 A) Appears these are two separate Digital Copy Boards. Will one be a master, the other a mirror unit for control? Note, specify which - or note both are independent. B) Clarify shut off switches for Digital Copy Boards and full monument cabinet. C) Provide Volts, Amps, Circuits for each separate cabinet and provide in listing format D) Note all signs are UL 7) Outdoor Lighting Code: Ch. 4 A) provide timer, indicate where located - notation or diagram is fine B) Note sign will dim to a maximum of 200 NITS (measure of light) from sunset to sunrise - WATCHFIRE MANUFACTURER SPECS PROVIDED STATING 750 NITS AT NIGHT EXCEED CODE ALLOWANCE. REVISE. C) Provide notation to clarify mechanism for sign dimming - i.e. - photocell or laser sensor? 8) Note on the plans: "Per 7A.6.4.C. A digital sign is permitted to have a rate of change of sign copy, graphic, or information not more than once every one minute. The digital sign copy shall not have any transitions or animations." |
