06/23/2018 INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT Approved VISITED SITE, MET WITH TPD WHO INFORMED ME A DRIVER IN A TRUCK BACKED INTO ROOM 127 AT A HIGH SPEED DAMAGEING THE FRONT DOOR, FRONT WINDOW, AND A 6 FT X 8FT PORTION OF FRONT WALL-- DRYWALL AND STUCCO. COULD NOT SEE WIRING TO THE A/C UNIT AS IT WAS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE UNIT WHICH WAS STILL IN PLACE. THERE WA NO OTHER DAMAGE TO ELECTRICAL. LIGHTS AND RECEPTICLES WERE STILL WORKING. MET WITH MANAGEMENT WHO STATED OWNER KAMISH PATEL WAS ON HIS WAY BUT WOULD NOT BE HERE UNTIL 6:00 PM AS HE WAS COMING FROM PHOENIX. I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH MR PATEL AND ASKED IF HE WANTED THE COT TO SECURE THE ROOM AS KING STUD AND TWO OTHER STUDS WERE DIPLSCED FROM THE BOTTOM PLATE AND LEANING INSIDE THE UNIT. FRONT DOOR COULD NOT BE CLOSED AND WINDOW DAMAGED. MR PATEL ASKED IF HE COULD FIRST ASSESS THE DAMAGE AND THEN GET HIS OWN PEOPLE TO MAKE REPAIRS. I EXPLAINED NOV WOULD BE ISSUED ALLOWING HIM TO MAKE REPAIRS BUT THAT THE UNIT WOULD HAVE TO BE SECURED WITHIN 24 HRS OR THE CITY WOULD BE BACK TO SECURE THE UNIT.
I WAS ABLE TO MEET WITH THE OWNER MR PATEL WHO SIGNED FOR NOV AND INDEMNIFICATION SINCE HE DECIDED TO SECURE THE ROOM WITH HIS OWN CONTRACTOR. IT IS STATED ON THE NOV THAT THE STRUCTURE MUST BE SECURED WITHIN 24 HRS OR SECURING WILL BE COMPLETED BY THE CITY OF TUCSON. STRUCTURE WAS POSTED UNFIT TO OCCUPY.
