10/01/2017 | INSP - INITIAL CODE ENFORCMENT | Approved | VISITED SITE, MET WITH TPD AND TFD INVESTIGATORS, EXPLOSION TOOK PLACE IN UNIT 119, TFD FOUND A CAN OF BUTANE IN THE BATHROOM. OCCUPANT WAS IN THE BATHROOM AT THE TIME OF THE EXPLOSION. I WAS INFORMED THAT TPD HAD CALLED CRIME SCENE BUT NOT WILLING TO GIVE NAME OF THE OCCUPANT. OCCUPANT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL WITH BURNS ON THE BODY. TFD GAVE PERMISSION TO ENTER THE BUILDING, FOUND ELECTRIC AND WATER WERE ON, FOUND NO GAS AND NO HOTWATER HEATER IN THE UNIT. DID FIND BATHROOM DOOR HAD BEEN BLOWN COMPLETELY OUT OF THE DOOR OPENING, DOOR JAMB AND ALL. BEDRM WINDOW HAD BEEN BLOWN OUT ALONG WITH THE LIVINGROOM WINDOW. TFD FELT LIKE THE BATHROOM CEILING HAD TRIED TO LIFT EVIDENCED BY CRACKING ALONG THE WEST WALL, BUT NO REAL DAMAGE. TFD DID FIND A CAN OF BUTANE IN THE BATHROOM, TFD THINKS THE REASON FOR THE EXPLOSION. I WAS LATER INFORMED THAT TPD CRIME SCENE WAS CALLED OFF. SPOKE WITH THE MAINTANENCE PERSON WHO ELECTED TO SECURE THE TWO FRONT WINDOWS. C/E HAD NO ISSUEDS, GAS WAS NOT INVOLVED, UNIT HAD UTILITIES, UNIT WAS VERY CLEAN, AND MANAGEMENT COMPLETED THE BOARD UP OF THE UNIT. CODE ENFORCEMENT DID NOT ISSUE A NOV FOR ANYTHING DUE TO NO ISSUES. OCCUPANT REMAINS IN THE HOSPITAL. NO VIOLATION / CLOSE CASE. |
