Arrived and the Battalion chief was still on site and the building on the west side has collapsed. The brick wall on the west side is completely on the ground. The roof was on the ground and had the walls on the north and south side standing and not supported and were leaning. There was another building and that is intact but will need to be checked due to has some damage where the wall had the roofs connected. Did make contact with the owner who lives in San Fransico and not able to get a flight out. Does have someone in town and not able to get a hold of them at this time. The walls need to be knocked down on the section that fell only and than cleaned up. The other building will be check at daylight hours and the owners rep. will meet on site at 8:00 in the morning. The Fire Department has made contact with the demo contractor and coming to site. The equipment is a few blocks away. The building on the west side is a total lost. The contractor came and knocked down the walls on the north and south side and all the trash and debris was piled on the property in the area the building collapsed. No material was removed from the site. Once the structure was secured called for a fence to surround the area until the other structure is checked. Called Biff Baker Fence and installed fence panels from the street entrance to Stevens to 9th Ave. on the south side of the building and on the north side from the existing fence to the street entrance on 9th Ave. Will be meeting the owners rep. at 8:00 AM on site and he will be signing the paperwork. Will be going over the issues that need to be addressed on the clean up and checking the remaining structure to have checked if stable enough to have the fence moved once it's cleaned up. RV. |
