Communication called that T.F.D. on site with a carport fire. Arrived and the units were still on site and checking for hot spots. The investigators were on site checking for cause. Appears the fire started in the carport and went into the house through the attic. The drywall was pulled down in the kitchen and the family room to check the fire in the attice. Some drywall was pulled down in the living room to check the extent of the fire going through the attic. The 2-carport is a total lost and will need to be replaced. The rafters, beams and sheathing are all charred. Two beams are double 2 x 12 is bolted on both sides of the carport. The middle beam is 3-2 x 12's bolted together. The trusses are burned on the west side of the house and all will need to be checked. Below the trusses the fire did not do damage to the interior of the house and that is were the bedrooms and bathrooms are located. Have smoke damage through out and the soot on the floor. The wood siding to the storage room and the entry to the house and the truss section have all burned. The owner of the house has just bought the house and just moved in a few days ago. The owner was going to stay next door with the neighbor and signed the paperwork and gave permission to have the property secured. A vent hole was cut on the roof. Called Biff Baker Fence to secure the carport area and Arcaiden Industries to cover the windows and doors with plywood. Will check in 45 days. RV. |
