Codes used: Chapter 3 Sign Code, 2011 NEC, Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code, International Building Code.
Sign Code Section 3-18:
1) Application notes only 2 existing signs; records indicate 3 wall signs, 1 monument, 1 menu board and 3 directionals. Understood replacing 2 wall signs; south and east walls. Clarify what is happening to other existing signs - especially west elevation wall sign. Total sign area allowance is affected by number of signs and each of their sizes.
2) Dimensions for sign B do not equal noted sign area on plan and on application, revise.
3) Enlarge electrical/mounting details for sign B - can't be read even at 11x17 print out. Mounting detail, though difficult to read, does not appear to match the building canopy design - see comment 6.
4) MOUNT METHOD: provide minimum number needed, type and size depending upon surface type for each sign A & B (i.e. screws/bolts).
5) Clarify, sign A appears to be on face of a "canopy" -= a wall sign. However, approved building plans show sign letters extend above the canopy and do not show a raceway mount. Clarify.
6) Clarify sign B appears to be on the face of a canopy that extends greater than 12" away from the building. As such, the mounting location does not meet the sign code for Section 3-59, canopy signs, nor for wall signs. Provide side view. Reference building plans detail 3 sheet A-7.2 when examining sign install. It may be required to move the sign to another location on the building elevation.
